Better Recycling Program coming March 30, 2009

Program Includes:

A new collection day for most households
-
Weekly food and yard waste collection
-
Meat, fish and dairy scraps can go in your food and yard waste cart

More food/yard waste cart sizes to choose from
-
More paper, plastic and metal items can be recycled, including cups, deli trays, aluminum foil and plastic plant pots
-
Glass bottles and jars go in your recycling cart – no more separating
-
Electronics, used motor oil and bulky items can be collected through special services
-
All Seattle single-family households will begin weekly curbside food and yard waste service on March 30th 2009, unless they compost at home.

Residents will be provided one 13 Gallon food and yard waste cart and billed monthly for this service.

Collected food and yard waste will be made into compost for local parks and gardens.

$1.00 off coupon for any EcoSafe® trash bag product to be included in the city of Seattle’s utility bill to be mailed to 311,000 residents.

Ad will go out through 17 local community and ethnic newspapers to a circulation of approximately 230,000.
