Total Degradability- EcoBio® and EcoDegradable® products containing proprietary additives establish “controllable lifecycles” for commodity polyolefin products so that once used, these products are safely returned to the natural bio-cycle as “organic carbon”- carbon that can be ingested by microorganisms in natural biological processes. Polyolefin plastics (polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene) are modified with prodegradant additives that accelerate the natural oxidative processes of ordinary plastic by factors of 100 to 1000 or more causing the modified plastics to totally degrade and biodegrade in highly predictable and controllable timeframes. This natural process contributes to the fertility of compost, frees-up air space in our landfills and helps mitigate the problem of “accumulating” plastics in our environment and watersheds.

Performance – Proprietary additives used in EcoBio® and EcoDegradable® products have no negative impact on the integrity of the product to which it is added. There is no loss of physical or mechanical properties. Additives used to modify our products work well with most new technically advanced resins that "Reduce" raw materials requirements without compromising performance.

Processability – The proprietary additives, in pellet form, are added to resins at the start of the manufacturing process. There is no special equipment and few adjustments necessary to conventional processing equipment. Output is not compromised in any way. The proprietary additives used in our EcoBio® and EcoDegradable® products are easy to handle from a materials handling point of view and storage practices are normal.

Price - Relative to competitive technologies, modified EcoBio® and EcoDegradable® products are the most cost effective option. The price of any product in an open market system has a direct relationship to the cost of raw materials and the energy required to convert it to a useful product.

Adaptability - The technology used in EcoBio® and EcoDegradable® products is very versatile and adaptable. It can be applied to most single use disposable plastic applications. It is generally accepted that in the very near future, Quick Service Restaurant chains will dispose of confectionary supplies such as trays, plates, cutlery and cups with their food waste in commercial compost facilities. Plastics Solution's products will naturally support this important transition.

Pre Consumer Recycling - It is normal practice in the plastic industry to recycle factory scrap and roll ends. With the exception of a few extreme circumstances, modified EcoBio® and EcoDegradable® products can be included with the regrind materials.

Disposal in a Landfill - Each modified Plastics Solutions' product is engineered to totally degrade only after it has fulfilled its useful life. Total degradation also mitigates the problem of entombing naturally biodegradable garbage that accounts for more than 40% of all garbage. In full-scale landfill trials EcoDegradable® bags lost >95% of their molecular weight ("MW") in less than 10 months at ambient temperatures of 20°C to 30°C in the landfill.

Disposal in a Commercial Compost - EcoSafe~6400 Compostable® Bags are widely accepted in commercial compost operations.   In real world composting conditions EcoSafe~6400 Compostable provide superior performance in use. They totally disintegrate in 10 to 45 days when disposed of in a commercial compost enabling microorganisms to attack, ingest and mineralize the “organic carbon” fragments in compost and subsequent soil application.

EcoBio® Oxo-Biodegradable Compost Bags and Liners are also well accepted in the market place.

Ecotoxicity – EcoBio® oxo-biodegradable and EcoDegradable® products are modified with special proprietary additives all of which have been extensively tested for ecotoxicity, components are on the FDA – GRAS list, comply with FDA requirements for direct food contact and CONEG regulations for heavy metal limitations. There are no harmful residues that could accumulate in the soil. They have also undergone full-scale landfill and commercial compost trials. In the compost trials, after sieving, compost that contained bags modified with the proprietary additives met the highest standard as fertilizer under the “Austrian Compost Quality Seal”.
